I’m going to be Randy Marsh for Halloween, as long as I can get my lazy ass to the store to get a wig and some black hair dye (for my mustache) and a green overshirt, and maybe an obama shirt for underneath, that will show itself later in the night, when I’m properly sauced.

This is kinda cool… dude got arrested and decided to imitate Randy Marsh… nice.

Getting ready to record. Invited some friends to get down, excited to hear what it ends up sounding like. Been listening to a lot of Hip Hop lately. Saw Soul Love And Groove @ Root Down tonight. It was sweeeeeet. check them out May 12 @ Knitting Factory.

Record

We are going to record some “songs” on April 29, 2009 at Big Game Lodge Studios in “Van Nuys”. What this means is that Coors Light stock will rise, steaks will “cook”, a/c will blast. We’ll be re-amping, double heading, leaving old “strings” on my bass, “calling” friends to “do” little hand claps, you know, like the pros do “it”. Does anyone have a “video” camera they wanna “lend” us?

The time has come!

Very excited to announce that Välmart will be recording two songs sometime over the next two weeks and the music will be available for download as soon as its done. Stay tuned, friends!

Välmart is the new band. I am very happy to be playing music again. I haven’t been on the road since April 2008 and I haven’t jammed with anyone in months! My old friend, my best friend, Benjamin Newsham is my partner in crime for this project, so to speak. We first started hanging out when I was 16 and I first started touring. He started touring with that band as our guitar tech. He eventually played drums for us when our drummer quit, then our drummer came back, and like a champ, Ben went back to guitar tech. He also played bass for us when I was in the hospital. He’s a go-to kinda guy. He’s also a chef at Little Doms in Los Feliz. He is writing songs with me and we are fleshing them out with Griffin and Brian, from the beautiful band, The Diamond Light. Ben and I got our first apartment when I was 18, in Chino Hills. After we got evicted from two apartments in the same apt complex (long story), we thought it was time to rent a house, so we did, in Corona. It was fun for a while, then Ben moved to Portland to go to culinary arts school (cooking school), and I got new roommates to go along with a new house, started a record label, helped start a studio, and then Ben finished school, came back down to Corona to help me run the label…We decided after a few months it was about time to get the hell out of Corona and move to LA. At first we lived in Sun Valley (north of Burbank) and we started writing songs. No offense to the people we stayed with, but we hated living in Sun Valley. So we moved to Silverlake and let me tell you, I feel cool, I feel hip….no, just kidding. But, I am really happy with our new apartment and our new practice space in Downtown LA. And by the way, Hey! Fuck you hipsters who give me dirty looks when I’m trying to ride my bike around Echo Park Lake….yah yah, you’re walking, I’m riding my bike, share the trail, bitches! I love LA! I really do. I’ve been DJing around LA under the moniker, RED ZEPPELIN….so come drink while I play rock n roll. It’s cool, it pays my rent. We have been writing songs for Välmart for a few months now and last night we jammed these songs/ideas out for the first time with a full band and we are feeling like we’re six years old and we just had a way too many big sticks, and we’re freaking out! So, give us a few weeks and we’ll have some music for ya. The tentative plan is to release two seperate 7″ records through Longhair Illuminati and a full length album through a TBA record label in the next year, oh, and of course, tons of touring. myspace.com/valmartvorld Love, Phil
